DAF XF105

This is a completely new truck, with a new engine and an impressive new cab. Perhaps more so than any other DAF truck application, comfort levels had to be the best they could possibly achieve. In the haulage sector, a truck's cab is not only a work place, but a living space, too, which is why the new XF105 Super Space Cab is the ultimate in ergonomic design.

A dash-mounted gear selector keeps the cab clutter free, while a new lower cab floor allows easier cross-cab access and gives even more storage space under the lower bunk. There's even an option to include pullout drawers and a 45-litre in-cab fridge. The 3-inch engine tunnel step means debris stays in the footwell and the new bunk design means the Super Space Cab offers even more sleeping space - with a new ladder up to the top bunk.

The Super Space Cab exterior has also been redesigned, with a new aerodynamic look and optional Skylights.

So how does the XF105's performance match up to its looks?

In a word, exceptionally. The new 12.9 litre PACCAR MX engine is an unrivalled combination of superb performance and outstanding fuel economy. Massive torques of between 2,000 and 2,500 Nm deliver enhanced driveability, and the class-leading integrated decompression brake generates maximum braking capacity for optimum downhill comfort - and of course, superior driving efficiency. SCR technology has been incorporated into all of DAF's drivelines, which allows all DAF trucks to benefit from increased fuel efficiency, thanks to fuel injection which burns fuel more efficiently, improving fuel economy and the class-leading performance of the engine.

One trade magazine proclaimed, "The driveability of the new engine will ensure it's on most drivers' wish lists, while the productivity improvements DAF is claiming will appeal to operators. Definitely one for your Euro 4 shortlist." The new standard in high performance, fuel efficiency and driver comfort.

DAF has built its business around the requirements of its customers, providing a range of applications to meet the demands of specific business sectors. DAF's new XF105, for sale on www.trucklocator.co.uk, is available in a wide range of configurations, from 4x2 models to 6x2 and 6x4, with low deck, twin steer, mid lift and lifting rear axle variations.

Using TOPEC, DAF's computerised vehicle specification system, which allows DAF to determine the optimum chassis and driveline combination for your particular application - you get the truck your business needs. Whatever you demand of the XF105, it fits in with the requirements of your business, from long haul trips to specialist delivery - with superb performance and excellent fuel efficiency.

Delivering maximum uptime whichever DAF best serves your purpose, the range of products is designed to deliver high quality performance, and to be low maintenance in all aspects of their operation.

Service intervals and oil changes are less frequent, and minimum maintenance units all around the vehicle are designed to reduce a DAF truck's time in the workshop, allowing for faster turnaround, and maximum uptime.

The best trucks with the best back up DAF not only has one of the most extensive back up networks - it's also open for more hours than any other manufacturer, staffed by highly trained DAF technicians using only genuine DAF parts. That not only decreases downtime, but ultimately increases residual value, too.

The company's DAVIE XD diagnostics downloads information directly from your DAF truck's Vehicle Information Centre, for rapid and accurate servicing or repair. In addition, DAF's unique MultiSupport servicing, repair and maintenance options give you the flexibility to control maintenance costs over the long term. On the road, you have the reassurance of DAFaid, DAF's legendary roadside assistance service. It takes only 45 minutes on average from call out to the arrival of DAFaid, and a further 47 minutes to get a vehicle back on the road!

The best trucks - the right finance package For your business to perform at its best, it takes more than having the best-performing trucks. How you finance your fleet can have an impact on your bottom line, too.

PACCAR Financial's unique combination of vehicle knowledge and world-class financial expertise means you can benefit from bespoke finance packages built around the demands of your particular business, and the way in which it operates. Full details are available from your DAF dealer.

A clean performance Low on fuel consumption - high on performance Every DAF truck is powered by a superior PACCAR engine - and the new 12.9 litre six-cylinder MX engine is at the heart of the new XF105. DAF's reputation has been built around the performance and fuel efficiency of its engines - and the new MX is the latest example of power combined with efficient, economic performance.

DAF is always looking at ways of improving operational efficiency, and in this respect, the all new MX engine is in a class of its own. Not only does it deliver increased oil drain intervals of up to 150,000km, massive torque improvements also mean increased driving performance which in turn delivers superior fuel efficiency. All PACCAR XF105 engines are compliant with Euro 4 or Euro 5 emissions levels, thanks to new DAF SCR technology.

SCR and EGR - the big difference Most European truck makers have adopted SCR to achieve Euro 4 emissions levels, which came into effect in October 2006. SCR is the most popular choice because of its lower operating costs, its improved fuel efficiency, and the fact that it's simple and virtually maintenance free. Where EGR is a complex technology integrated into the engine, SCR is a fully independent system. EGR's way of burning fuel at lower temperatures makes it inherently more inefficient - and up to 2% less fuel efficient than its Euro 3 predecessor. The process of exhaust gas recirculation can increase oil contamination, which in turn increases the frequency of oil drain intervals and impacts on engine durability, vehicle performance and cost of operation.

SCR's high combustion pressure and temperature produces a more complete burn. This actually improves fuel consumption by as much as 4% - which represents an overall 6% advantage compared to EGR. SCR is also a simpler system, which uses an AdBlue after treatment, a safe, non toxic liquid, which converts nitrogen oxide into harmless nitrogen and water.

As a typical DAF truck can travel more than 2000 miles on a single tank of AdBlue, you only need to fill up one tank of AdBlue for every three tanks of diesel. AdBlue is already available at all DAF dealerships and will soon be widely and easily obtainable at hundreds of locations, from fuel stations, fuel oil distributors, truck stops and service stations.

What's more, AdBlue currently retails at around 40-45p per litre (ex VAT) and, as it is more widely used, its cost is likely to reduce.

DAF has made the best use of the best technology - SCR SCR is a tried and tested technology - and DAF has made the best use of it, combining it with additional engine improvements in order to deliver the best in terms of fuel efficiency, durability and reliability. DAF SCR provides an improved engine performance, delivering up to 510 horse power and reduced operational costs on an impressive scale, with fuel consumption up to 4% better, and up to 150,000km between oil changes. Because combustion is more complete with SCR, engine oil stays cleaner for longer, which improves durability and operational life.

DAF determined that SCR is a superior and more reliable technology that gives excellent economic performance. As capital costs rise to meet the new environmental standards, DAF has ensured that the SCR system is an investment for customers, adding residual value to DAF trucks, and contributing to their operational longevity.

As well as being more costly to service due to shorter oil drain intervals, EGR is less fuel efficient and can affect engine life. That's why DAF SCR is incorporated into the advanced engine technology of the best trucks in the business.
